Motorcyclist From Toms River Dies After Crash In Lakewood, Police Say

The man suffered grave injuries after being thrown from his motorcycle in the crash on Shorrock Street, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A Toms River man has died of injuries he suffered when he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash in Lakewood on Saturday, Lakewood police confirmed Tuesday.

Anthony Ferrentino, 33, was pronounced dead at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, where he was taken after suffering grave injuries in the crash on Shorrock Street at Four Seasons Boulevard, Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.

The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday, Staffordsmith said. Ferrentino was riding a 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 DCT motorcycle south on Shorrock Street as a Dodge Hornet, driven by 56-year-old Lakewood woman, was making a left turn, resulting in the crash, he said.

Two witnesses who were stopped at the traffic signal on Shorrock Street heading north told police the motorcycle failed to stop at the red light, Staffordsmith said.
