SEASIDE PARK, NJ — A swimmer was rescued from a rip current on Sunday in Seaside Park by a surfer and another swimmer, with the rescue captured on video by a local videographer.
The incident was reported about 2:25 p.m. Sunday of a swimmer in distress at the 2nd Avenue beach. Police arrived to find three people in the water — a surfer and a swimmer helping the person who had been caught in a rip current, said Ryan Mack, the videographer and owner of Jersey Shore Fire Response. Mack said the surfer was able to get the struggling man onto his surfboard and paddle in. All three men were on the beach safely out of the water by the time other first responders arrived, he said.
