Woman Shot To Death In Ocean County, Man Charged With Murder, Prosecutor Says

They had reportedly been dating, prosecutors said.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Jackson Township man was arrested and charged with murder after a woman was found dead, with multiple gunshot wounds, in the parking lot of a Larsen Road apartment complex, officials said.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Saturday, Shaquille Green, 29, was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon — all in connection with the death of Toraya Reid, 28, also of Jackson, on Saturday in Jackson Township.

On Saturday at about 11 a.m., officers from the Jackson Township Police Department received a 911 call in reference to shots fired and an unresponsive female lying in the roadway at the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road, Billhimer said.

Responding officers found a deceased woman, later identified as Reid, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, lying near the exit of the apartment complex, he said.

Additional responding officers observed Green running on North New Prospect Road; Green was taken into custody without incident and transported to Jackson Township police headquarters, Billhimer said.

A subsequent investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office major crime unit, Jackson Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigation unit identified Green — who has been dating Reid — as the individual responsible for her death, Billhimer said.

Green was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is being held pending a detention hearing, Billhimer said.
