TOMS RIVER, NJ — A woman was seriously injured Friday evening when she was hit by a pickup truck as she crossed Hooper Avenue, Toms River police said Monday.

The 37-year-old woman was crossing west Hooper Avenue in the crosswalk at Terrace Avenue when she was hit by a 2000 Ford F250, Lt. Scott Moeller said.

The 44-year-old man driving the pickup was turning left onto southbound Hooper Avenue from Terrace Avenue when he hit the woman, Moeller said.

The woman suffered significant head injuries and was taken to the hospital, Moeller said.

Police did not release the names or hometowns of the woman or the man.
