JACKSON, NJ — A woman found shot to death at a Jackson apartment complex has been identified as the sister of an NBA star, reports say.

Toraya Reid, 28, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds about 11 a.m. Saturday after a 911 call, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. Shaquille Green, 29, has been charged with murder in Reid's death. Prosecutors say the two were dating.

Toraya Reid is the oldest sister of Naz Reid of the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves, the Athletic reported.

Naz Reid spoke of Toraya and his younger sister, Jäkähyä Šmïth, in an interview with Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine in December 2023, where he talked about growing up in Asbury Park.

"My older sister is super protective, she treats us like she's our parent," he said in the interview.

Reid, who played his high school basketball at Roselle Catholic, was signed by the Timberwolves in 2019 as an undrafted free agent and has become Minnesota's sixth man, Sports Illustrated reported.

Naz Reid, a center/forward, was back in New Jersey just before Labor Day, hosting a basketball camp in Asbury Park, the Asbury Park Press reported.

Toraya Reid was found unresponsive in the road at the Paragon Apartment complex on Larsen Road, Billhimer said. Green was found a short time later running down New Prospect Road and arrested, he said.

He has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon and is being held in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
