Bloomingdale PD Makes Students Cadets

Junior Police Academy a first for Walter T. Bergen students.

students ages 10 to 12 are currently participating in the 's first Junior Police Academy. 

The 21 students, currently known as "cadets," will be able to experience the training and techniques used by law enforcement. The cadets have participated in a mock trial with Bloomingdale Municipal Court Judge Wubbenhorst, where they experienced how a trial is conducted by role-playing in the scenario.

The cadets also processed numerous crime scenes, conducted motor vehicle stops, used radar equipment, and investigated a motor vehicle accident. The cadets also experienced the inner workings of a medivac helicopter, which was provided by Atlantic Health Care Systems.

The flight nurse and pilot provided detailed information about their duties and the students were allowed to enter the helicopter as part of the learning experience.

The cadets were also provided with a demonstration from the Passaic County Swat team and with team-building skills from the .
