Ash Wednesday Services in Verona and Cedar Grove

Ash Wednesday takes place 46 days before Easter and marks the first day of Lent, a period of prayer and fasting for Christians.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, adherents of Lent will have an ash cross placed on their foreheads symbolizing mourning and repentance. 

Here is where and when ashes will be distributed in Verona & Cedar Grove:

First Presbyterian Church of Verona
10 Fairview Ave., Verona
10 a.m. - Ash Wednesday Service with Communion
Julia Dawson will be preaching

Our Lady of the Lake RC Church
32 Lakeside Ave., Verona
Ashes will be distributed at the following masses:
7 a.m.; 9 a.m.; Noon; 7:30 p.m.
There will be no additional services.

St. Catherine of Sienna RC Church
339 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove
Ashes will be distributed at the following Mass Schedule:
6:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
There will also be a Service of the Word with the distribution of ashes at 3:30 p.m.
