Cedar Grove Police Blotter

The following information has been provided by the Cedar Grove Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Feb. 14: A 28-year-old Cedar Grove man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after police detected the smell of alcohol in his car.

Brandon R. Hoagland was arrested at approximately 12:10 a.m. after Cedar Grove police responded to a Ridge Road address on a report of a disturbance.
Patrolmen Jason Wolfstirn and Carolyn Zajack stopped a car being driven by Hoagland and detected the smell of alcohol and other signs of impairment while checking his credentials.

Hoagland was transported to police headquarters where he was processed on the charge and later released pending a municipal court appearance.

Feb. 15: A 31-year-old Cedar Grove man was ticketed by Cedar Grove police for driving an uninsured car and driving with a suspended registration after being stopped by Cedar Grove police.
Peter Kurzyna was stopped at approximately 5:26 p.m. by Ptl. Robert Hectus and released pending a municipal court appearance.
His 2002 Chevy was impounded

Feb. 16: A 58-year-old New York man was arrested by Cedar Grove police on charges he was driving an unregistered and uninsured car while his New York driving privileges were suspended.

Adam H. Anik, of Garrison, N.Y., was stopped at approximately 12:37 a.m. by Ptl. John Smigelsky. He was charged at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

His 2000 Suzuki was impounded.

Feb. 16: Cedar Grove police are investigation the burglary of an Eileen Drive home sometime between Feb. 7 and Feb. 16.

According to police, someone broke into the home and ransacked the master bedroom and a closet. 
Police reported jewelry and cash were taken during the burglary.
The detective bureau is continuing its investigation.

Feb. 16: At 9:35 p.m., a Franklin Street resident reported her son’s iPhone had been stolen earlier in the day during school hours from his Memorial Middle School locker.  The victim reported that the phone was valued at $649.

Feb. 17: A 26-year-old Paterson man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and for outstanding warrants by Cedar Grove police after police stopped the car for allegedly speeding.

Police say Jean S. Maurice was arrested at approximately 4:24 p.m. by Ptl. Michael Grasso on the charges, processed at police headquarters and turned over to Clifton police to face the outstanding warrants..

Feb. 17: A 39-year-old Verona woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license after Cedar Grove police stopped the car she was driving.

Police say Tanisha A. Cunningham was arrested at approximately 7:52 p.m. by Lt. Erik Hansson, processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

Feb. 17: A 37-year-old Bloomfield man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after Cedar Grove police stopped his car.
Police say Ryan V. Renzulli was arrested at 11:02 p.m. by Ptl. Carolyn Zajack, processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

Feb. 18:  A 26-year-old East Orange woman was ticketed for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and driving a car with a suspended New Jersey registration after her car was stopped by police.

Police say Cherrelle L. Vaughn was ticketed at approximately at 10:39 p.m. by Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn. Vaughn was later released pending a municipal court appearance.

Her 2002 Toyota was impounded.

Feb. 18: An alert resident, who noticed a car being driven erratically on Ridge Road, notified Cedar Grove police, resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old Verona man on driving while intoxicated charges.

According to police reports, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the resident called police about the car. Patrolman Carolyn Zajack located the car and stopped the driver. Zajack detected the smell of alcohol on the driver, identified as Gregory Deo, and arrested him.

Deo was processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

Feb. 19: A 21-year-old Cedar Grove man was arrested on drinking and drug charges, Cedar Grove police reported.

Nicholas L. Iannia was arrested by Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn at approximately 3 a.m. in the area of Elmwood Road after Wolfstirn saw the vehicle being operated erratically.

During his investigation, Wolfstirn smelled burning marijuana coming from the car as well as the smell of alcohol on his breath.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Iannia was processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.
