The Week Ahead: Verona Council to Award Contract

Panel to discuss who will repair drainage improvements from Rockland Terrace to Grove Avenue.

The long Presidents Day holiday weekend is over and it’s back to business as usual in Verona. Here are some things to keep in mind in the week ahead:

1). Tuesday night, the Verona Township Council will be meeting in Council Chambers in municipal hall, 600 Bloomfield Ave., beginning at 7 p.m. Among the issues the council is expected to discuss is the awarding of a contract for drainage improvements from Rockland Terrace to Grove Avenue. 2). The Stitch-In Club, a knitting club, will hold their regularly scheduled get together tonight at the Cedar Grove Public Library, 1 Municipal Plaza, Cedar Grove beginning at 6:30 p.m.

3). Christopher R. Cannara, Director of Cardiovascular Services at Mountainside Hospital will discuss heart disease, risk factors and what you can do to keep heart healthy on Tuesday morning at 10 as part of the Tip Top Tuesday workshops. The discussions, sponsored by Verona LIVE, take place at the Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Ave., Verona. Adults 60 and older are welcome. Call (973) 830-0096 for more information.

4). The Verona Community Center will also host the Verona LIVE Walking Club on Wednesday, Feb. 22 beginning at 10 a.m. Walkers are encouraged to meet in the gym for exercise and walking. For more information, call (973) 830-0096.

5). The Verona Card and Games Club will meet Friday, Feb. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at the Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, for an afternoon of cards and socializing. No registration is required.
