Verona voters on Tuesday approved a $16.6 million referendum to improve school security, technology and Thomas J. Sellitto Field.
More than 62 percent of those who voted were in favor of the referendum, according to NorthJersey.com. About 27 percent of Verona voters hit the polls Tuesday with 1,766 in favor of the improvements and 1,065 against the referendum, according to the report.
The project, which includes constructing a multipurpose soccer, lacrosse and football field, will pose a $176.75 tax increase to the average Verona home over the next 20 years, according to the district's website that outlines the cost of each portion of the project.
