6 Drunk Driving Arrests In Wall After Belmar St. Patrick's Parade

After St. Patrick's Day festivities in Belmar, Wall police announce post-parade arrests for driving under the influence.

WALL, NJ —Wall police reported accidents and drunk driving arrests after the 51st Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday.

In a Wall Police Department post-parade DUI campaign, six were arrested for DUI, including one person who had an accident and another charged with assault by auto.

In total, six people were arrested by Wall police during the campaign, police announced on Monday.

Portions of Wall border Belmar, where thousands turned out for the annual parade. And the department increased proactive patrols in anticipation of the event, police said.

The detail was funded through Drunk Driving Enforcement Funds from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, police said.

The enforcement detail resulted in the following arrests:

  • After a motor vehicle stop conducted by Sgt. Chris Mason on Route 71, a Manahawkin man, 26, was arrested after he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Ocean Township. He was processed and released.
  • Patrolman Jason Paulus arrested a Brielle man, 58, for driving while intoxicated following an investigation into a motor vehicle incident on Route 71 in the area of East Fourth Avenue.
  • After conducting a motor vehicle accident investigation on Curtis Avenue near Ellsworth Street, Patrolman Jared Contea arrested a Farmingdale woman, 40, for driving while intoxicated. She was additionally charged with two counts of assault by auto, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of open containers of alcohol in a motor vehicle. She was processed and released on a summons.
  • Following the investigation into a suspicious vehicle near Wall Township Police Headquarters, Patrolman Tyler Martin arrested a Middletown resident, 20, for driving while intoxicated.
  • A Belmar man, 43, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over on Route 71 near 16th Avenue by Lt. Miles Shanklin. He was processed and released.
  • A Delran resident, 32, was arrested for drunk driving after a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman John Kelly on Route 138 near New Bedford Road.
