See details on when hydrant flushing is expected to begin and how long it will last:

WALL, NJ — Residents should be aware of annual hydrant flushing scheduled to begin at the end of March in Wall Township.

Starting March 31 and running through May 9, township officials said work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

During the hydrant flushing process, officials said you may experience a drop in water pressure as well as some discoloration of water. Generally, this will clear up by running cold water for several minutes.

According to township officials, the annual hydrant flushing process aims to remove minerals and sediment built up over time and ensure that all fire hydrants are in good working order.

Although the water is safe to use during this time, officials said residents should refrain from doing laundry when water is discolored and avoid running hot water, as mineral sediments can accumulate in the water heater.
