Arrest Made In Wall Home Burglary Where Neighbors Called Police

Wall police arrested an Ocean Township man in connection with a burglary Nov. 7 on Walling Avenue in the West Belmar section.

WALL, NJ — An Ocean Township man, 21, has been charged with burglary after an investigation by Wall police of an incident last month in the township.

On Nov. 7, there was a home burglary on Walling Avenue in the West Belmar Section of the township. It was notable because watchful neighbors called police.

A resident of the house came home to find two people inside, police said. The two fled on foot.

Detective Ty Hughes investigated the case and on Friday, Dec. 8, charged Jeremiah Sunnerville, 21, of Ocean Township with burglary to the residence, a third-degree crimes, police said.

Sunnerville was processed and remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, police said.

When the incident happened, detectives and patrol officers went to the house after neighbors reported two people entering the residence.

While the suspects were inside the house, one of the the residents returned home and encountered one of the suspects in the living room. There was a "physical encounter," police said, and the suspects fled toward Route 71, with one suspect going northbound and one southbound.
