Area children and families are invited to the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County’s 32nd annual Healthy Kids Day event at Camp Zehnder from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 20.

The free community-wide event is designed to showcase healthy, active lifestyles for kids and their families and highlight summer programs at the 140-acre day camp located at 3911 Herbertsville Road.

Healthy Kids Day is part of a national effort by 2500 YMCAs across the country to promote the importance of physical, mental and emotional well-being for children and families in the communities they serve. The activities and events will be motivational, educational and fun for everyone who takes part.

“We want to open our doors to all families in our respective communities on Healthy Kids Day,” said Laurie Goganzer, president and chief executive officer of YMCA of Greater Monmouth County, which serves over 36,000 people in Monmouth, Middlesex and Ocean counties. “It’s vital that everyone knows they are welcome to explore and use our facilities and services. It’s part of our mission and on Healthy Kids Day we want to make sure we provide the support needed to strengthen families.”

Healthy Kids Day participants will enjoy playing field and sidewalk games, creating nature crafts, planting vegetables that can be taken home, touring the camp, and exploring the volunteer built KaBOOM! playground area.
