The 11th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 were remembered in a solumn ceremony held behind town hall Monday. Honored were the widows of the five Wall Township men killed in the attack that killed more than 3,000 in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Dawn Connolly, Karen Lunder, Jeane McAlary, Nancy Neidermeyer and Barbara O'Shea Lynch presented a wreath in honor of all the lives lost on 9/11/01. Their husbands, John E. Connolly, Christopher Lunder, James J. McAlary Jr., Alfonse J. Niedermeyer and Robert W. O'Shea were killed during the World Trade Center attacks. Following an invocation by Father Wisner of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, local and state elected officials spoke briefly about the tragedy of that day. Mayor Jeff Foster, Committeewoman Ann Marie Conte and Committeeman Todd Luttman each spoke briefly. So too did state Assemblyman Sean Kean. Two more wreaths were presented -- one in honor of all the Police, Fire and EMT workers killed on 9-11, and one to honor those military personnel lost in the attacks.
