WALL, NJ – During a recent special meeting of the Wall Board of Education, school officials announced that the district’s plan regarding the potential wearing of masks in schools would be posted on the district’s website next week

“The district’s pandemic steering committee met yesterday to finalize some of the details regarding some of our plans regarding reopening in the fall. The document is being updated and revised, and this will be shared with the Board of Education. After it is shared with the Board of education, this will be shared with the public early next week, and many questions will be addressed,” Dr. Tracey Hadnderhan, Wall’s superintendent of schools, said.

Handerhan mentioned that since April, parents have spoken up at board meetings voicing their frustration regarding their children having to wear masks. The district decided in June to finish out the current school year with mask-wearing optional.

At Thursday’s meeting, Handerhan told the parents gathered that all of that feedback, plus the letters and emails and phone calls that she has received on the matter, was considered regarding the plan for the upcoming school year.

“Since then, the Board has heard many parents speak on behalf of their children. I do want to let you know that your feedback, your correspondences, and your desire for your children have absolutely been reviewed, and I’m happy to report that we’ll be able to provide you the details that you want to know early next week,” Handerhan said.
