Floor Collapses, 1 Injured In Jersey Shore House Fire

The first floor had collapsed into the basement by the time firefighters had arrived, according to the Glendola Fire Company​​.

WALL, NJ — A fire broke out in a house on Martin Road in Wall on Friday night, according to the Glendola Fire Company.

The first floor had collapsed into the basement by the time firefighters had arrived.

"Due to those circumstances, the tactics used were quickly transitioned to defensive," the fire department said in a statement.

No civilians were injured but one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury.

The first alarm for the fire came in at around 11 p.m. on Friday.

Mutual aid was called to battle the flames.

"Due to the size of the crew, one team staged on the A side of the structure while the other team staged on the C side," the Wayside Fire Company said in a statement. "After a prolonged defensive operation due to floor collapses within the structure, the fire was placed under control."
