WALL, NJ — After a peak of 2,024 customers without power Monday in Monmouth County, all but 207 customers are restored, according to figures from Jersey Central Power & Light at 3 p.m.

High winds bringing down tree limbs has been the No. 1 cause for outages throughout the state, a utility spokesman, Chris Hoenig, said earlier on Monday.

There had been outages of 998 customers in Middletown, 247 in Colts Neck, 202 in Wall, as well as 370 in Tinton Falls, along with lesser outages reported in several other towns. Most of these have been nearly completely restored, according to online data from JCP&L.

In Wall, as in most places, the outages were wind-related, Hoenig said. The utility sent a crew to Wall, but was grappling with outages from winds across the state.

More than half the Garden State was under a wind advisory Monday, with winds up to 55 mph in some areas.
