A Look Into Asbury's Past Currently On Display At The Berkeley

The display shows Asbury Park's diverse yet at times divided history over the past 150 years.

ASBURY PARK, NJ – The Asbury Park Museum’s latest exhibit, “Asbury Park: 150 Years of Change and Transformation — A Segregated Seashore," currently displayed at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, tells the story of the city’s diversity as well as its segregation and dividedness.

The display uses multimedia to weave a tale that includes the experiences of those who've lived here in the past, like the Sand Hill Indians up to the sons and daughters of Greek immigrants who used to own the businesses on the boardwalk to modern-day Asbury, whose growth has largely been influenced by the LGBTQ community.

The exhibit also has on display antique swimwear and souvenirs as well as a slideshow documentary.
