The hikes are free and and it's a healthy way to celebrate the New Year. But do remember to wear sturdy footgear and bring water and snacks. Check the weather before you leave the house and wear weather-appropriate clothing. Layers are best for exercising in colder temperatures.

Check the Park Service Facebook page for up to date information on Jan. 1 in the event weather cancels any hikes. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, check in with your group leader or park to ensure your hike is still on before driving there.
