New Brewery Sets To Open Near Wall Township This Year

WALL, NJ — Beer lovers, rejoice. A proposed brewery has secured a location in Belmar, and the owners hope to open Bakes Brewing Company on Highway 71 this year.

Founder Jeff Baker found a passion for craft beer on an out-of-state brewery trip in 2011 and decided to become an accomplished home brewer. The Bakes Brewing Company is currently being operated out of Baker's home garage and basement. “I bought a homebrew kit and haven’t looked back,” Baker said on the business website.

The brewery has been approved by the Wall Township Planning Board, but Baker says an exact opening date is not yet known because “there is a lot that goes into commercial development, especially for a brewery.”

“I would hope that we will be open commercially at some point in 2022,” Baker said.
