WALL, NJ — Two women were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) during an overnight traffic stop on Route 138 on Wednesday, Wall Township Police said.

The arrests occurred in the early morning hours on Wednesday while police were conducting a traffic stop on Route 138 near Brinley Road.

Around 1:40 a.m., police said Ptlm. Wheeler stopped a vehicle and charged the driver, identified as Kristina M. Rosecrans, 41, of Wrightstown, with driving while intoxicated.

While officers were taking Rosecrans into custody, police said a second vehicle arrived on scene, driven by Mackenzie E. Lamb, 36, of Allentown, who was identified as a friend of Rosecrans.

After Lamb was determined to be intoxicated, police said she tried to re-enter her vehicle, despite being instructed not to. Ptlm. Phillips then arrested Lamb and charged her with obstruction, resisting arrest, and driving while intoxicated, police said.

Both Rosecrans and Lamb were taken to Wall Township Police Headquarters for processing and later released in accordance with John’s Law, which requires police to impound the driver's vehicle for 12 hours following their arrest.

To be released from custody, the driver must also contact someone who will take responsibility for them and ensure they don't drive while under the influence.

Since Memorial Day Weekend, Wall Township Police said they have made 99 DWI arrests, including 12 in the past week alone.

“The department continues to urge drivers to plan ahead: use a ride-share service, call a cab, or arrange a sober ride,” police said. “It’s always the safer and smarter choice.”
