Pa. Man Was Driving Drunk In Route 35 Crash In Wall: Police

Mitchell G. Holley is charged with aggravated assault by auto after two Point Pleasant residents were injured in Oct. 7 Wall crash.

WALL, NJ — A Downingtown, Pa. man has been charged with aggravated assault by auto after a Point Pleasant couple was injured in a motor vehicle crash last month on Route 35 in Wall, police said.

After receiving toxicology results from the New Jersey State Police Forensic Laboratory, Patrolman Hunter Manning charged Mitchell G. Holley, 34, with criminal offenses, in addition to motor vehicle charges he was already facing.

Holley, previously listed as a Georgia resident, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault by auto; one count of causing seriously bodily injury while driving with a suspended driver’s license; driving while suspended; driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving, police said. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, at about 6:45 p.m., Wall police responded to Route 35 and 18th Avenue after a collision involving two vehicles with multiple injuries was reported.

According to a police investigation, the 2011 Nissan Altima driven by Holley left the southbound lane of Route 35 and entered the northbound lane, striking a 2023 Mazda CX3. The Mazda was operated by a man, 39, with a female passenger, 31, both of Point Pleasant.

All occupants had to be extricated from their vehicles by emergency crews and were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, police said.

Route 35 from Wall Church Road to 18th Avenue was shut down in both directions for about an hour and half while emergency crews conducted extrication and medical treatment and crash investigators processed the scene, police said.

Fire and rescue crews from West Belmar Fire Department, Glendola Fire Department and South Wall Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, as well as emergency medical crews from Wall Township Police EMS, Belmar EMS and paramedics from Hackensack Meridian.
