Wall Police Pursue Man On Foot

Wall police on Saturday were questioning a Neptune man at the Budget Motel before he tried to flee on foot; he now faces various charges.

WALL, NJ — When police were investigating a report of a "suspicious person incident" at an area motel on Saturday, the man they were questioning suddenly ran off on foot.

Police said that at about 8:58 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, Patrolman Johan Moreno-Garcia and Sgt. Chris Mason were investigating a suspicious person incident at the Budget Inn Motel, Route 35.

While the officers were speaking with a man, identified as William Segars, 37, of Neptune, he ran off on foot.

Segars was apprehended a short time later and he was found to have several active arrest warrants originating from Tinton Falls, Eatontown, Neptune and Ocean Township, Wall police said.

Once he was apprehended, he was also found to be in possession of a knife and heroin, police said.

Segars was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law, possession of
heroin and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was later transported to Monmouth County
Correctional Institution in Freehold.
