Wall Superintendent Gives Update On School Reopening Plan

Wall superintendent Tracy Handerhan broke down the updates made in an Aug. 25 letter to parents and guardians posted online.

WALL, NJ – In a letter posted to the district’s website, Wall Township Superintendent of School Tracy Handerhan updated parents about the district’s reopening plan.

In the letter, Handerhan addressed the frustration over the renewed mask mandate but stressed that everyone has to come together to help make the most out of this situation and ensure that the schools stay on a regular, five-day-a-week schedule.

“Regardless of personal views on mask-wearing, I believe that each of us is saddened and perhaps angry that we are once again mitigating pandemic conditions in our schools. I also believe that working together will only benefit the children of this district. This year, WTPS is prepared to offer full-day, in-person learning for our students,” Handerhan said in the letter.

“Our administration, faculty, and staff have worked tirelessly to achieve this for your students. We want our schools to remain OPEN! We do not want to return to shortened days and hybrid schedules. Our students need to be in school, full-time, every day. They deserve it.”

The letter states that masks will have to be worn at all times except for when there are mask breaks, the temperature is too hot, eating and drinking, gym class, or in the case of a medical condition.

Parents are also asked to screen their children every day before sending them in, and in regards to vaccines, at no point will the district consider a vaccine requirement policy, according to Handerhan.
