While Wall Homeowners Slept, Thieves Grab Car Keys, Steal BMW

Thieves broke into a Sunny Pond Court home this weekend, stole the residents' car keys and then took off with their BMW, Wall police said.

WALL, NJ — Thieves broke into a Sunny Pond Court home while the owners slept, found the owner's car keys and then stole the locked BMW in the driveway, Wall police said.

And another municipality says that BMWs are being targeted in a holiday crime trend.

Wall police detectives went to the home near Belmar Boulevard on Dec. 24 and found that the thieves forced entry into the residence.

Once inside, they took the keys to a BMW that was locked in the driveway and stole it.

The homeowner was asleep on the second floor while this happened at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

Detective John Spinapont is investigating, and anyone with additional information that may help in the investigation is asked to contact him at 732-449-4500, the Wall Police Department number.

In Marlboro, police put out a message to residents that over the last two weeks there has been an increase in attempted motor vehicle thefts and residential burglaries to obtain key fobs there.

"Specific information from the state indicates that a majority of the vehicles being targeted are BMW X series," Marlboro police said in the notice.
