Suspect Charged for Heroin Possession, Intent to Distribute in Somerset County: Prosecutor
A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin with the Intent to Distribute in Somerville.

A 28-year-old Sussex Borough man was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin with the Intent to Distribute in Somerville on Sept. 8.
According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Somerville police received word that a male, later identified as Joseph Volpone, would be driving a black, 4 door Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck in the area of convenience store located on East Main Street.

“Task Force detectives setup a surveillance of the above location and at approximately 3 p.m. detectives observed defendant Volpone operating a black Chevy Silverado pick-up truck,” according to the prosecutors office.
“Subsequent to the defendant parking his vehicle in the convenience store parking lot Task Force members approached defendant Volpone and advised him of an the ongoing narcotics investigation.”

Volpone voluntarily gave consent to detectives to search his vehicle. The search resulted in the seizure of:
- 45 folds of Heroin (under ½ once)
- $965 in U.S. currency
He was released on his own recognizance.
