Girl Scout Troop Takes First Steps on Media Journey

The Scouts' meeting includes interviews and an exploration of media.

Members of Green Brook's Cadet Girl Scouts in Troop 65469 met at Green Brook Middle School Friday, and began working on a project called "Media Journey" that will include projects aimed at learning about social and news media.

As part of the project, the students interviewed each other, as well as Troop Leaders Patty Anthony and Margret Baffige.

Juhee Shukla interviewed Ishani Shah about upcoming Scout activities, and Ishani said she was looking forward to caroling. Olivia Baffige also said she enjoyed caroling, as well as making cookies to give out, in her interview with Elizabeth Chapleski.

"She also enjoys selling all of the cookies because she gets to eat them," Elizabeth said.

Cookies and camping are among Juhee's favorite parts of Girl Scouting, she told Ishani, and Aanika Sadana said she was looking forward to earning badges for completing achievements.

"I am also interested in selling Girl Scout cookies—I believe I'm going to have fun doing it," she said.

Olivia Baffige asked Elizabeth Chapleski what she was looking forward to doing in Scouts this year, and she said she was "looking forward to leading the troop and achieving new badges."

The Scouts learned they could earn three awards as part of their Media Journey when they interviewed their troop leaders, including the Monitor, Influence and Cultivator awards.

"We are having the opportunity to earn three awards," Margaret Baffige said. "They are going to help us become lifelong leaders."
