Rare Footage of Moldenke's Castle Released
Video shows historic Watchung building before it burned to the ground the same year.

In what may be some of the last footage of Castle Elisnore, the landmark Watchung structure that mysteriously burned to the ground in 1969, new video footage released by Weird NJ shows the castle in its complete form.
The castle, more commonly known as Moldenke's Castle, was built in 1900 on Washington Valley Road and modeled after the Moldenke family castle in Denmark, according to Weird New Jersey. The castle once towered over the Watchung Mountain range.
While the castle was slated for demolition in 1969, fire broke out in the structure just before it was to be destroyed, entirely gutting the buildings.
The footage, which dates back to the year the castle was destroyed, was posted on Weird NJ's Facebook page on Tuesday.
