WATCHUNG, NJ — There were multiple reports of shoplifting in Watchung in the past week, as well as an identity theft case.

On July 13: Around 9:35 a.m., Watchung police got a report of identity theft from a resident of Hill Hollow. The victim told police that someone filed for unemployment benefits using their personal information.

On July 15: Around 11:03 a.m., Watchung police responded to the Liccardi Ford Lincoln dealership to investigate a report of theft. A Liccardi employee told police that a dealership license plate was missing from their inventory for approximately two months. There are no suspects at this time.

On July 15: Around 8:48 p.m., Watchung police responded to the DSW Shoe Warehouse to investigate a report of shoplifting. Store security told police that three women shoplifted merchandise and fled in an unknown direction.

On July 17: Around 7 p.m., Watchung police got a report of shoplifting from the DSW Shoe Warehouse. A store employee told police she saw two women shoplift merchandise worth $345 and flee in a vehicle.

On July 25: Around 5:26 p.m., Watchung police responded to the Famous Footwear store to investigate a report of shoplifting. An employee told police a woman shoplifted $845 worth of shoes and fled in a white Ford sedan.
