A Somerset County teacher was recognized earlier this month as one of a handful of New Jersey Teachers of the Year by the Christie Administration for the 2014-15 school year.
Katie Tricarico, a kindergarten teacher at Adamsville Primary School in Bridgewater, was one of 22 teachers from across the state of New Jersey honored with the distinction of Teacher of the Year, according to Somerset County officials.
“Teachers are essential people in every child’s life,” Freeholder Patrick Scaglione. “We congratulate Katie on being recognized at the state level for her expertise and dedication.”

Scaglione presented Tricarico with a congratulatory citation from the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders earlier this month.
Tricarico has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Scranton, the county said. Additionally, Tricarico serves on several school and district committees, provides home instruction and coordinates parent-training nights, Somerset County officials said.
