Watchung Has 117 Reportedly Damaged Homes in Sandy
NJ Spotlight says most of those were of major damage.
Watchung saw some major damage on owned homes throughout the borough, with 117 reporting damage, 103 of that being major damage, according to a report from NJ Spotlight.
According to the data, minor damage is considered up to $8,000, major damage is defined as costing $8,000 to $28,800 and severe damage is more than $28,800.
A total of 14 homes were found to have minor damage, and 103 had major damage.

No rental units were damaged in Watchung, but a total of 453 businesses were impacted by the storm.
In terms of FEMA figures, 121 Bedminster homeowners requested aid, with an average of $3,174 in assessed damage. From there, 39 reported damage less than $10,000, three between $10,001 and $20,000, and one with damage from $20,001 to $30,000.

Green Brook Township saw much fewer problems, with only 12 homes reportedly seeing damage, three with minor damage and nine with major damage.
No rental units saw damage, but 508 businesses were impacted.
In Green Brook, according to FEMA records, 279 applications were received from homeowners, with $1,404 being the average assessed damage. Of those, 59 homes had damage less than $10,000 and two had damage between $10,001 and $20,000.
From there, 173 applications for rental homes were received by FEMA, with two seeing moderate damage and one with substantial damage.
