The two adult accomplices face child endangerment and shoplifting charges.

WAYNE, NJ — A 13-year-old, along with two adults, was arrested last month after the juvenile was threatening motel guests with a firearm, according to the Wayne Police Department.

On July 20, Wayne police were called out to the Quality Inn on US-46 on a report that someone was threatening motel guests with a gun.

According to police, the suspect had been reaching into a fanny pack, saying, “I will shoot you,” to others in the motel.

When police arrived, they found two people, a man and a woman, outside the motel. The man was wearing clothes matching the description of the suspect and a fanny pack. The two were detained by police.

Soon after, the police received a call that the actual suspect was hiding in the bushes nearby. Police located the suspect and ordered him to leave the bushes. A 13-year-old boy emerged from the shrubs, matching the suspect’s description.

According to police, someone had bumped into the teen at the motel, prompting him to reach into his fanny pack and say “I will shoot you” multiple times to the person.

After detaining the 13-year-old, police searched the area where he was hiding and found a fanny pack containing a Ruger .45 caliber handgun and a loaded ten-round magazine, officials said.

Investigators reviewed security camera footage that showed the 13-year-old exiting the motel with the fanny pack and stashing it in the nearby bushes, police said. He was arrested.

Police determined that the two adult suspects were with the teen, and found them to be in possession of several clothing items with price tags, security censors, and “anti-shoplifting counter measures.” The two were also placed under arrest.

Brimary Vasquez Navarro, 21, of Corona, NY, and Jeremy Abanto Randiche, 22, of Paterson, were both charged with employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime, endangering the welfare of a child, receiving stolen property, and possession of anti-shoplifting countermeasures.

Randiche was found to have several outstanding warrants in New Jersey, police added.

Both individuals were transferred to the Passaic County Jail Intake Hub.

The 13-year-old was charged on a juvenile complaint with offenses that, if committed by an adult, would constitute unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, improper disposition of a handgun, and possession of a handgun by a minor.

He was placed in the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.
