Police found a damaged Honda CRV near Port Imperial Boulevard and Henley Place, they said. They determined that a Ford F360 had struck the Honda, then "fled the scene, striking three pedestrians a short distance away," prosecutors said.
The Ford driver, identified as Tubac-Socoy, drove away from that area and then exited the vehicle and fled on foot, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said two of the pedestrians, a 78-year-old North Bergen woman and a 70-year-old Florida woman, were seriously injured. So was one passenger of the Honda, an 80-year-old North Bergen woman.
The third pedestrian and four other occupants of the Honda suffered minor injuries, prosecutors said.
Tubac-Socoy was originally charged with three counts of assault by auto, two counts of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated assault, and multiple motor vehicle charges.
Weehawken Police and the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation will continue investigating the crash.
