2 Dead, 17 Displaced In Passaic Co. Fire: Reports
The fire broke out early Friday morning and spread to several other buildings; 17 people have been displaced, according to the Red Cross.
PATERSON, NJ — Two people died and several families were displaced in a fire that broke out early Friday morning in Paterson, according to officials and reports.
The three-alarm fire began at around 2:36 a.m. at a wood-frame building on North 7th Street and spread to several other buildings, said the Paterson Fire Department.
"Crews have heavy fire in three buildings," firefighters said in an update around 5 a.m. "All Paterson Fire units are operating on scene as well as numerous mutual aid companies."

NorthJersey.com and News 12 reported that two people were killed in the blaze. First responders took two other people to the hospital for smoke inhalation, the News 12 report said.
At least 17 people have been displaced, and the New Jersey chapter of the American Red Cross is helping these families with temporary housing, food, and clothing needs.
