PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A North Jersey nonprofit is offering an $8,500 reward for information regarding a dead golden retriever puppy that was found in a cage in a West Milford pond earlier this week.

The Last Resort Rescue, a West Milford-based pet rescue organization, is offering the reward after one of their rescue officers noticed a crate at the edge of the pond on Bonter Road in West Milford. The puppy was about 10 weeks old. The crate was weighted down with a heavy vase.

The organization named the dog Jenny and started the hashtag #JusticeforJenny to raise awareness about the incident and the reward campaign.
