Back To School In Wayne: See Dates And Important Info For 2024-2025 Year

WAYNE, NJ — With just two weeks to go until a new year begins at Wayne Township Public Schools, district officials are sharing information with families to make sure they have the right forms on file, and letting them know when schedules and teacher assignments will be out.

The first day of class for all K-12 schools is on Thursday, Sept. 5. The Preakness Early Childhood Center has orientation on that date, and will start school on Friday, Sept. 6.

Required forms and info

First, all parents and guardians must complete the back-to-school form acknowledgement process, via the OnCourseConnect digital platform. The acknowledgment of district policy forms is required each year, and for each student — it needs to be completed before you can access class schedules and teacher assignments. Click here to see instructions on how to complete these forms.

Students who will attend the Preakness Early Childhood Center or any of the elementary schools also need to have a dismissal form on file. To access these forms, go to the school webpage, then navigate through the menu as follows: School Info > Notices and Documents > Dismissal Form.

Bus passes and class schedules/teacher assignments

High school schedules will be released on Aug. 23, middle school schedules on Aug. 27, and elementary school/PECC teacher assignments on Aug. 28. All schedules/assignments will go out after 3 p.m. on those dates.

"Specific questions pertaining to your student's teacher assignment or schedule should be addressed directly with the building Principal," officials said.

Bus passes will be emailed on Aug. 26 via OnCourse, the district said. Families are reminded to check all email addresses linked to the student's account.

Freshman orientation, open houses, and ice cream socials

Incoming 9th-graders will have orientation at Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley, while the middle schools have open houses scheduled and the elementary school families can meet teachers and classmates over ice cream. Here are the dates.

Wayne Hills HS:

• Aug. 26 - 9th grade

Wayne Valley HS:

• Aug. 27 - 9th grade

Middle schools

Anthony Wayne MS:

• Aug. 28 - 6th grade
• Aug. 29 - 7th and 8th grade

George Washington MS:

• Aug. 28 - 6th grade
• Aug. 29 - 7th and 8th grade

Schuyler Colfax MS:

• Aug. 28 - 6th grade
• Aug. 29 - 7th and 8th grade

Early childhood center and elementary schools

Preakness ECC:

• Aug. 28 / rain date Aug. 29; orientation Sept. 5.

• Sept. 3
