Brush Fire Quickly Extinguished In Wayne Park Wednesday, Officials Say
The fire burned several acres in High Mountain Park Preserve, police said.
WAYNE, NJ — First responders rushed to a fire that broke out in a wooded part of High Mountain Park Preserve in Wayne on Wednesday, officials said.
The flames were first reported around 3 p.m., and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service arrived to help local police and firefighters contain the burn. The Passaic County Sheriff's Office and William Paterson University Police were also on scene.
Crews worked together to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. It was reportedly burning in the preserve near Chicopee Drive, where firefighters set up their operation and began hauling hoses up into the woods.

There were no evacuations, and no injuries reported. Officials will continue to investigate the cause of the fire, and anyone with information on its origin is asked to contact Nick Pepe of Wayne PD at 973-633-3554.
High Mountain Park Preserve contains 1,200 acres of woodlands and wetlands amid rolling terrain, and is jointly owned by The Nature Conservancy, Wayne Township, and the state of New Jersey. Parking for High Mountain is on University Drive on the campus of William Paterson University.
