WAYNE, NJ — Jay Doremus was kind, funny, and generous.

Doremus, 34, of Wayne died April 27, his obituary states.

Doremus was a "jokester" and "the life of the party," his brother, Michael said of him.

"He could always get a smile and laugh out of you, even in the worst of times," Michael Doremus said on a GoFundMe he created to help pay for his brother's funeral expenses. "He had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone even give a stranger the shirt off his own back. He loved his little girls with everything he had and would do anything for their happiness."

Michael Doremus' hoped to raise $5,000 through the charity campaign. Nearly $4,800 had been donated as of Monday, two weeks after the campaign was created.

Doremus is survived by his daughters, Delilah and Aubrey; their mother, Ashley West; parents Sharon and Harold Doremus; siblings, Tasha, Harold III and his wife, Brandi, Michael and his wife, Kelly, and Kimberly; aunts; uncles; and many cousins, his obituary states.

A memorial service for family and friends was May 4.

"We all love and miss him, and we just wish we could hear his laugh," Michael Doremus said.
