Cops: Illegal U-Turn Turns into Drug Arrest

The 22-year-old passenger was seen "shoving items down his pants" while police approached the vehicle.

An illegal U-turn turned into a drug arrest in Wayne Saturday night after the vehicle’s passenger shoved “items down his pants” while police approached the vehicle.

Wayne Police were “conducting safety and security patrols of the commercial districts around Route 23 and North Leg Road” just after 2 a.m. Saturday when they pulled a vehicle over for making an illegal U-Turn, Wayne Captain Laurence Martin said.

While approaching the vehicle, police observed the passenger, Jorge A. Ramirez-Sierra, 22, of Riverdale, reach “into his rear belt area shoving items down his pants.” When police shined their flashlight, they also ”observed empty used glassine bag commonly used for heroin” scattered on the floor and in cup holders.

Ramirez-Sierra and the juvenile driver, who said she was trying to get home to Totowa, were both transported to Wayne Police Headquarters “in custody.”
