Body Of Missing Swimmer, 18, Found In North Jersey Lake

Divers recovered the body of a Morris County teen on Wednesday afternoon, after he went missing while swimming with friends.

WEST MILFORD, NJ — Dive crews have recovered the body of an 18-year-old swimmer in a Passaic County lake after he was reported missing Tuesday, officials said.

Randolph resident Eshan Aman Ullah was swimming at Clinton Reservoir with a group of other teenagers from Morris County, according to West Milford Police. The five friends set out for a small island in the reservoir when Ullah disappeared into the water, police said.

Officials got a 9-1-1 call at around 6:51 p.m. Tuesday.

West Milford Police officers and divers responded and began searching for Ullah, with New Jersey State Police Northstar also arriving to conduct a grid search of the reservoir. Dive operations were suspended overnight.

West Milford Police, the Passaic County Sheriff's Office, and the State Police TEAMS, Marine, and Aviation units resumed the search Wednesday morning.

NJSP divers located Ullah's body around 12:08 p.m. after using side scan sonar equipment to search the water, said police.

Police extended their sympathies to Ullah's family, and asked that their privacy be respected at this time.

The 423-acre Clinton Reservoir is part of the Newark Watershed, and is located in West Milford.
