Driver Killed After Car Overturns Near Golf Course In Wayne

First responders found the man unconscious after his car left the roadway and overturned along Parish Drive, police said.

WAYNE, NJ — A North Haledon man died from his injuries after his car struck a fence and overturned onto the Passaic County Golf Course last Tuesday, according to Wayne Police.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Sept. 3 at approximately 7:26 a.m. along Parish Drive, near the intersection of Jacobus Avenue.

Wayne Police Lieutenant Skylar Cauceglia said the driver, 29-year-old Gregory B. Fales, was westbound on Parish Drive when his Subaru Impreza "left the roadway, striking a split rail fence prior to overturning into the adjacent Passaic County Golf Course property."

Fales sustained critical injuries and first responders found him unconscious and unresponsive inside the car, Cauceglia said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Wayne Police Traffic Bureau is investigating, and police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 973-633-3520.

The Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad, Wayne Township Fire Department, and paramedics from St. Joseph’s Hospital also responded to the scene.
