WAYNE, NJ — More than 600 students will celebrate officially becoming high school graduates on Wednesday, as Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills High School hold their commencement ceremonies.
And, more than 95 percent of those students have decided on their path after graduation, both at two- and four-year colleges as well as in trade schools, the military, and the workforce.
In a salute to the class of 2024, Wayne Township Public Schools shared some "fast facts" highlighting the class's top college choices, academic achievements, and also shared staff-written essays celebrating several individual students.

These students' academic careers were challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic when they were freshmen four years ago, as Superintendent Dr. Mark Toback noted in his message to graduates.
"Your journey through our school system has been marked by unprecedented times, and you emerged stronger and more prepared for the future," he wrote. "The skills you have developed—critical thinking, adaptability, and collaboration—will serve you well in your future endeavors."

A total of 310 students will graduate from Hills, and 295 from Valley. Those going to college will be spread to campuses far and wide, with a number also staying within New Jersey. Those graduates have received more than $5 million in scholarships to further their educational journeys.
The top college choices were largely local schools, including William Paterson University, Montclair State University, Passaic County Community College, and Seton Hall University.
