Teen Shot To Death On NJ Sidewalk: Officials

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just after 2 a.m. Wednesday and found the man wounded on the sidewalk, according to authorities.

PATERSON, NJ — Officials are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old Paterson resident, whom city police found lying on the sidewalk early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just after 2 a.m. near the area of Market Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Paterson Police. Police found the man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound, officials said.

First responders transported him to St. Joseph's University Medical Center, and medical staff pronounced him dead.

Authorities did not list any suspect information or identify the victim in an initial statement, as the investigation is ongoing. More information will be released "when it becomes available," per the prosecutor's office.
