Man Accused Of Shoplifting Bites Mall Staff, Brandishes Knife: Wayne Police

The accused was also in possession of phony government documents, police said.

WAYNE, NJ — A Dover man was arrested last week after shoplifting and attacking Willowbrook Mall staff, according to the Wayne Township Police Department.

Wayne police officers were called to Macy’s at Willowbrook Mall on July 5 around 12:30 p.m. following a report of a shoplifter.

According to Willowbrook Mall loss prevention officers, a man was observed placing fragrance merchandise into a backpack and heading towards the Macy’s exit.

As loss prevention officers attempted to stop the suspect, he “bit and headbutted” them, before pulling a knife, police said. He was then subdued by officers and detained.

The man, identified as Orlando Ocampo Gallo, 50, was arrested by Wayne Police and brought in for processing.

Police also found two phony Social Security cards in Gallo’s possession, as well as a fake U.S. residence card, officials said.

Gallo was charged with robbery, shoplifting, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, and possession of false government documents.

Gallo was charged on a complaint warrant and brought to Passaic County Jail to await court proceedings.
