NJ Cop Accidentally Shot Himself In The Leg During Rifle Training
The officer was seriously hurt after his gun discharged during a week-long rifle course at a Passaic Co. shooting range, authorities said.
HALEDON, NJ — Authorities said a police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg while training at a Passaic County shooting range earlier this week.
The officer, a firearms instructor with Haledon Police, was seriously injured in the incident Tuesday afternoon. Officials said his injuries are not considered life-threatening, and he was in stable condition at St. Joseph's Medical Center as of the last update.
According to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, the officer was attending a week-long rifle course at the shooting range in Paterson, when he "discharged a round into his leg while conducting a drill."

As this is considered an officer-involved shooting, the prosecutor's office will investigate and has notified the Attorney General Office of Public Integrity and Accountability.
