North Jersey Man Lured Teen, Kidnapped And Sexually Assaulted Him, Cops Say
A nearly year-long investigation has led police to the suspect.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man has been arrested for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Paterson teen, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Nahum Maldonado, 63, of Paterson, was charged last week following a kidnapping and sexual assault investigation from last year.
On Aug. 20, 2024, around 5 p.m., a 19-year-old man reported to Paterson police that he had been sexually assaulted.

The victim said that at around 4 p.m. that day, a man, later identified as Maldonado, had "deceived" him into getting into his car. The victim was then driven to an “isolated location” where he was sexually assaulted, according to police.
An investigation led police to Maldonado, who was arrested on July 30 around 7:30 p.m. near East 15th Street and Lyon Street in Paterson, without incident.

Maldonado is charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, and criminal sexual contact.
If convicted of all charges, he faces up to 41 years in prison. Maldonado was ordered to remain in the county jail during a Tuesday court hearing.
