Passaic Doctor's License Revoked After Sexual Misconduct Claim: AG

The woman who accused the doctor of inappropriate sexual contact had recorded the interaction on her phone, officials said.

HALEDON, NJ — Two North Jersey doctors have agreed to revoke their medical licenses to settle sexual misconduct allegations made against them, officials said on Monday.

Humberto T. Perez, a family doctor in Jersey City, and Ahmad “Nazir” Kahf, a cardiologist who practiced in Haledon, had both been criminally charged in unrelated incidents, said Attorney General Matthew Platkin. They also faced administrative allegations of sexual and professional misconduct.

In both instances, the complainants had video evidence recorded on their cell phones, Platkin said.

Kahf's medical license was suspended in October of 2023, after he was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. According to the AG's office, a woman accused him of acting inappropriately while she escorted an elderly patient to his office.

In April, Kahf entered into a 12-month pre-trial intervention program, and his charges will be dismissed upon successful completion, Platkin said.

Perez faced both sexual assault and criminal sexual contact charges after a patient accused him of inappropriate touching on two separate occasions, per the AG's office.

Both Perez and Kahf agreed to have their medical licenses permanently revoked without admitting or denying any wrongdoing, Platkin's office said. They are also barred from re-applying for licensing in the future.

“We will not tolerate medical professionals who violate the strict prohibition against any form of sexual contact during professional interactions,” Platkin said in a statement. “My office takes allegations of sexual misconduct among physicians very seriously and, as these latest actions demonstrate, is committed to holding violators accountable.”
