Gunpoint Rape Of Kidnapped College Student Consensual, Suspect Claims In Affidavit

New details of the kidnapping and assault of a local college student have emerged.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Further details on the kidnapping and sexual assault of a Morris County college student have emerged.

On Dec. 5, Akram Elsayed, 28, of Roselle, was arrested after kidnapping a woman and sexually assaulting her while she was handcuffed to the door of his car, according to police.

Earlier that day, around 2:30 p.m., the parents of the woman called the Bayonne Police Department when she did not pick her kids up from school and wouldn’t answer her phone.

Investigators tracked her phone to the County College of Morris in Randolph. Review of the school’s security footage saw the victim, identified by police as R.E., walking to her car and being approached by Elsayed, police said. The angle made it impossible to see what happened next.

Five minutes later, footage shows Elsayed’s car pulling out of the parking lot, with the R.E.’s car unoccupied sitting in the lot, authorities said.

Police determined that Elsayed had forced himself into R.E.'s car and driven it to his black pickup truck in the parking lot. He then forced R.E. into his truck after pointing a gun at her and hitting her in the back of the head with it, authorities said.

According to the affidavit, Elsayed drove R.E. to a location in Andover, telling her he was taking her to two graves he had dug for both him and her.

It was in Andover where Elsayed repeatedly asked R.E. to have sex with him in the car, officials said.

After R.E. refused him several times, Elsayed then pressed the gun to her and said, “How ‘bout now?” according to police records.

R.E., fearing for her life, climbed into the front seat with Elsayed, police said. Officials added that she was not wearing pants at the time, as Elsayed forced her to pee in a plastic bag during the encounter.

Elsayed then assaulted R.E. for his own sexual arousal before raping her as she was handcuffed to a handlebar on the car’s passenger door, the affidavit reads.

Officials added that R.E. thought Elsayed would kill her if she fought back.

It wasn’t until 9:45 p.m. that night when police received a tip about Elsayed and R.E.’s location.

Police found Elsayed and arrested him after a brief chase ensued, officials said.

According to police, Elsayed said that “the acts of sexual penetration and contact were consensual,” following his arrest.

R.E. was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for the sexual abuse and a head injury caused by the pistol whipping, authorities said.

Elsayed now faces dozens of charges, including kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, carjacking, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and many more. He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility to await court proceedings.
