PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Paterson man was sentenced to prison last week after he’d sexually assaulted a young girl and a woman more than 17 years ago.

Muniru Owe, 74, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of numerous sexual assault charges that stem back to 2004.

According to prosecutors, Owe sexually assaulted a five to six-year-old girl between 2004 and 2006. In 2020, that very girl, at that point a 20-year-old woman, spoke out and reported the assault.

Soon after that, a second woman reported that Owe had also sexually assaulted her around 2006 to 2008, when she was approximately 19 to 22 years old, officials said.

Authorities said both cases of assault occurred at the same residence in Haledon.
